Shiso
Label design — prototype
Japanese red shiso — herbal aroma and cool sweet-tart character. A botanical you will not find in most liqueur ranges: easy with gin, tonic, or soda, and used as a cocktail garnish too.
Story
Shiso (perilla) is thought to originate from the Himalayas through southern China and to have reached Japan via China. Seeds appear in Jomon-period sites; from the Heian period onward it shows up in medicinal and pickling records — colouring umeboshi, making shibazuke, and settling deep into Japanese food culture. Red-leaf plants are called aka-shiso (red shiso); demand peaks in a short early-summer window.
Overseas buyers often cannot picture the taste from the name alone. So we bottle the aroma, colour, and sweet-tart balance in a form bars can explain. After a Singapore steakhouse made it a house cocktail, the flavour travelled across Asia and into Europe and the US as a botanical guests had never seen before.

Craft
We use Japanese red shiso so leaf aroma, vivid colour, and a sweet-tart finish stay in the pour. On the rocks or with soda; in a gin fizz or rum mojito; or as a palate reset after tempura and grilled dishes.
Cocktail recipes named “Sakura” refer to the colour and perfume of shiso — not cherry-blossom liqueur (and not TEAra Sakura or our sakura SKUs).
Serve
On the rocks, with soda, or with tonic. Chill the bottle well.
Cocktails
Sakura Fizz
40 ml dry gin, 70 ml shiso liqueur, tonic to taste; stir, top with tonic. Garnish with edible flowers if you like.
Sakura Mojito
Muddle mint with a splash of soda; add 50 ml rum and 70 ml shiso liqueur; top with soda.
Food pairing
Tempura
Crisp shrimp and seasonal vegetables with salt — shiso soda clears the palate.
Marinated eggplant
Olive-oil steamed eggplant; shiso aroma beside the plate.
Sardine nuggets
Herb-seasoned fish snacks that even non-fish eaters enjoy.
Tuna steak
Butter-seared chu-toro with lemon — shiso’s cool edge against rich tuna.
